Last Minute DIY Halloween Costumes Made From Boxes

Halloween is only 8 days away, and if you are out of ideas for a great, unique costume, then leave it to TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® to have your back!

We have created some fun, quick, and inexpensive DIY costumes made from moving boxes to dress you and the whole family for the festive evening.

frankensteinThis super easy Frankenstein boxtume should be the spookiest costume on the block! Follow the steps below to make your very own!

What you’ll need:

  • TWO MEN AND A TRUCK small box
  • Green, black, and silver paint
  • Paper towel tube
  • Box cutter
  • Hot glue

Step 1: Assemble the box, taping the top and bottom shut. Paint the outside with green paint.

Step 2: Once the paint has dried, use a box cutter to cut a rectangle out of the front of the box for the face. Then, cut another rectangle out of the bottom that’s large enough to fit your child’s head.

Step 3: Add black, pointed hair around the top of the head.

Step 4: Cut paper towel tube in half and paint silver. Once dry, hot glue to each side of the box.

Complete the look with a purple shirt and black jacket, and maybe even green face paint if you’re feeling extra spooky!

Presidential Candidate Stand

With the presidential election a major buzz in the media, why not be a nominee yourself!  This is a very simple costume that can even be made the day of Halloween.

Step 1:  Use a dish box because it holds a more rectangular shape.  Cut the top of in a slant toward the back of the box.

Step 2: Spray paint the box blackdemocrat-stand-6

Step 3:  Print out the party symbol of choice (unless you are very artistic and want to draw it) and use spray adhesive to attach it to the box.

Step 4: Using either glue or tape attach a black pipe cleaner with a black craft pom pom attached to the end.

Step 5:  Glue straps to hold the box on your shoulders.




This is one of the most unique costumes, and any coin can be made with a little artistic flare.

Step 1: Flatten the box and cut out a circle and drew the letters to prepare for cutout

Step 2:  Carefully cut out the letters

Step 3:  Spray paint the large circle and letters seperately

Step 4: Glue letters on to the circle and cut area for the circle to fit snugly onto the shoulder

Step 5:  Use fabric spray paint for the clothing and matching metallic makeup for your face.

Simple as that!

Depending on the age of the person wearing the costume we recommend a using a small box for young children, a medium for females, and a large box for men.



Raisin Boxes

You can’t get much cuter than a box of raisins!  This is another very simple costume that will get a tremendous amount of attention while trick-or-treating! If you find yourself without a bonnet, you can simply use a red scarf!


Step 1: Find a small taller box and spray paint it red

Step 2: Cut out the front and arm holes on each side for your child

Step 3: search online for the “Sun-Maid” logo.  Print it out, and cut it out (we recommend using a craft knife).

Step 4:  Use spray adhesive

to attach the lettering to the bottom of the box

Step 5:  Add the bonnet or scarf and have fun!
